Brazil Discovery

Jul 12-26, 2025

15 days | Brazil | Lewis & Clark Travel

Brazil is blessed with incredible resources: five thousand miles of coastline; rainforests teeming with amazing flora and fauna; and some of the oldest occupied cities of the Americas, all moving to a distinctive Brazilian rhythm.

This special tour for alumni and friends of Lewis and Clark College highlights the diversity and distinctiveness of the regions across this vast land as we venture across it in clockwise fashion. After a first meeting and sampling of the hub of São Paulo, we venture into the vast Amazon region, whose eponymous “River Sea” is of simply perplexing dimensions and whose rainforest boasts an extraordinary variety of wildlife. Later, we discover the history and landscapes of Maranhão’s amazing coastline, including the great dunes and secluded lagoons at Lençóis Maranhenses National Park. The next stop is the city of Salvador, the country’s vibrant Afrocentric soul. Finally, it’s off to Rio, presided over by the iconic statue of Christ the Redeemer. All along our journey, we see vignettes of daily life and get to know and understand what makes Brazil tick.

We invite alumni and friends of Lewis & Clark to discover Brazil with us!
