Indonesia
BEACHES, DRAGONS AND TEMPLES
A sprawling archipelago that lies across the Equator from the Pacific to the Indian Ocean, Indonesia has glorious landscapes and seascapes, phenomenal wildlife and a wealth of exotic temples. Our travellers enjoy the beaches of Bali and Lombok, the ancient temple of Borobudur in eastern Java, and the stunning landscapes of Sumatra with its mountains, volcanoes, forests and wildlife. After the setbacks of the last decade, Bali is booming again. Its allure has always been an enticing mix of spiritual pursuits and sybaritic pleasures. Devotional art is everywhere you look, graceful sarong-clad men fill the streets and children practice intricate dance moves along rural roads. A quiet, out of the way feeling still remains on Bali’s sister island, Lombok, with its magnificent beaches and decorative artistry. Borobudur is one of the greatest Buddhist monuments in the world and a must on any visit to the area. And beyond, in Sumatra, are magnificent national parks; huge primal rainforests home to orang-utans, clouded leopards and elephants.
