As the poet Robert Service is famous for writing in his sweeping ballad “The Spell of the Yukon,” there is an allure to the North that captures the imagination and leaves a lasting impression. Those who have had the privilege of watching a Grizzly Bear munch on summer blossoms, flushing a cryptic sandpiper from its nest amid the hummock-filled tundra, driving the Dempster Highway through the Tombstone Mountains, or scanning mountain ridges for Caribou often feel the need to return again and again. That’s what we’ve been doing for decades, and we are excited to be venturing back to the land of the Klondike Gold Rush and numerous First Nations on this all-new itinerary.

We begin and end in Yukon’s capital Whitehorse on the shores of the Yukon River. To the southwest en route to Kluane National Park, we stop at a traditional site of the Southern Tutchone First Nations before settling in at Haines Junction. The Kluane region is a great place to observe Grizzly Bears and other large mammals like Moose and Arctic Ground Squirrels. On a flight from Whitehorse to Dawson City, we gaze on the seemingly endless expanse of boreal forest. Get intimately acquainted with these conifer-filled forests along the Top of the World Highway, which also intersects the land of the Fortymile Caribou herd. The Tombstone Mountains host numerous breeding shorebirds as well as Long-tailed Jaegers and Smith’s Longspurs. Crossing the Arctic Circle and into the Northwest Territories, we arrive in Inuvik to explore the Mackenzie River Delta. A flight back to Whitehorse caps off this immersive journey.

Like so many who have come before you, allow yourself to be enchanted by the wildlife, landscapes, people, and stories that make an exploration of the Yukon and Northwest Territories the trip of a lifetime.
