Uganda with the Womens Travel Network

Mar 01-13, 2026

13 days | Uganda | Womens Travel Network

Endowed with a varied topography and a diverse set of ecosystems, Uganda is an intriguing yet understated country that happens to provide some of the best opportunities for up-close and memorable wildlife encounters. Perhaps the country’s greatest attraction is its more than a dozen species of primates, many of which we get to see over the 13 days. These include Red-tailed Monkeys, Olive Baboons, Blue Monkeys, and ornate Guereza Colobus as well as the two famous Great Apes: Chimpanzees and Mountain Gorillas.

Our journey begins on the shores of the great Lake Victoria, the source of the legendary Nile. From here, we travel north over varied terrain. We visit the impressive and thunderous Murchison Falls, which cuts through a gorge channeling the waters of the White Nile. We then continue west, making our way to the scenic edge of the Western Rift Valley. Along the way, we can expect to see many of the over 50 resident species of large mammals, including African Elephants, Lions, Hippopotamuses, and Plains Zebras.

The first of two signature experiences is tracking Chimpanzees at Kibale Forest National Park, where there is a large number of resident chimp families in the forest. The undisputed tour highlight is our guided trek into Bwindi Impenetrable National Park where half the world’s surviving Mountain Gorillas live, and where we hope to get excellent views. Due to strict conservation regulations, limited gorilla trek permits are issued each day. For this reason, we urge you to book well in advance on this remarkable primate encounter.
