Discover Turkey as a living crossroads of civilizations—where Byzantine domes, Ottoman courts, Greek and Roman cities, and the world’s earliest monumental sanctuaries all belong to one sweeping human story.
Begin in Istanbul, moving from Hagia Sophia’s luminous interior to Topkapi’s palace precincts, then delve into the city’s outstanding museums and archaeological collections. Travel southeast to the astonishing Neolithic landscapes of Göbeklitepe and Karahantepe, where the origins of ritual architecture come vividly into focus. Turn west to the Aegean coast and walk through the great classical sites: consult the ancient oracle at Didyma, trace the monumental planning of Miletus and Priene, and linger among the grand avenues, theatres, and temples of Ephesus. Continue to Sardis and Pergamon to encounter the power, innovation, and healing traditions of ancient Anatolia, then step into the volcanic landscapes and rock-cut heritage of Cappadocia.

Conclude in Ankara with the incomparable Museum of Anatolian Civilizations. Throughout the journey, UBC archaeologist Megan Daniels adds depth through engaging, accessible on-site insights and discussion—ideal for lifelong learners who love history, culture, and thoughtful travel (no archaeology background required!).
