AN OPTIONAL EXTENSION TO OUR GALAPAGOS ISLANDS TOUR
For many years we’ve been introducing our travellers to the wonders of Ecuador’s Galapagos Islands and the Ecuadorian Amazon. Now, we’d like to offer you another way to add enjoyment to your travels: Ecuador’s Highlands and Cloud Forest. Within a short driving distance from Quito, we’ll visit both the Andes’ East and West slopes, whose epiphyte-strewn forests are home to a phenomenal diversity of birds that helps give Ecuador the 5th highest number of bird species of any country in the world! From the Plate-billed Mountain Toucan to the Andean Cock-of-the-rock, and from the Violet-tailed Sylph to the Giant Antpitta, we’ll enjoy searching out and observing the variety of forms and colours that abound here along with the ensuing variety of interesting behaviours and vocalizations. In the company of an expert Ecuadorian birding guide, we’ll travel the gamut of habitats from the high-altitude páramo through true cloud forest with its moss-covered branches, and skirting the edge of lowland tropical rain forest.
For a more complete Ecuadorean wildlife experience, consider taking this extension in conjunction with our Amazon Rainforest Explorer extension. Please note that we can further tailor this extension to your needs if you have any specific target species in mind. Please let us know at the time of booking.
