There’s so much to see in this small country that it reveals something new every time we go. Tunis is a modern city with a French feel around its ancient medina. Dougga and Sufetula are the sites of astonishing Ancient Roman ruins to be discovered and explored in almost complete solitude. The fairytale architecture of the Berbers rewards the traveller who travels into the deserts of the south. Here too we find blue robed Tuareg tribes-people in jeeps and on camels who blend a nomadic existence with the efficiency of cell phones. And nearby, the sparkling Mediterranean coastline and the lotus eater island of Djerba is an inviting spot to relax after a vigorous exploration. The blending of tradition and modernity, always with an emphasis on hospitality, makes Tunisia an especially inviting discovery.
