Study Leaders Larry Beasley and Sandy Logan are hosting a webinar, "French Grand Urbanism: The Open Spaces, Boulevards, and Urban Geometries In and Around Paris."

Join renowned urbanist Larry Beasley for a fascinating week in Paris examining the French grand style of urbanism and how its emphasis on order, monumentality, and classical beauty continues to inform urban design to this day.

Unfold the formation and nature of the open spaces and boulevards in and around Paris within the context of the history of the dramatic gestures and sweeping perspectives that gave us the cityscape of Paris so beloved today and the urban structuring and open space influences that have spread around the world.

With contributions by French historians and urbanists and exclusive seminars and presentations, the base and focus of this tour is the City of Paris, with excursions to Versailles and Giverny. Our base is a comfortable four-star hotel near the Luxembourg Gardens.

Neighbourhood walks with Larry’s local associates, exclusive presentations, convivial meals, and lots of off-piste exploration with Larry and Sandy are all part of this entertaining and stimulating week in Paris.

Your Tour Leaders

Larry Beasley, CM is an internationally known urban planner. Formerly Chief Planner for the City of Vancouver, he is largely credited with the transformation of its downtown core along New Urbanism lines, known as Vancouverism or "The Vancouver Model". His two books, “Ecodesign for Cities and Suburbs” (Island Press) and “Vancouverism” (UBC Press) are excellent references in anticipation of the tour. Larry's partner, Sandy Logan is the Principal Associate of Beasley & Associates and will also be joining us on tour.

Sandy Logan is the Principal Associate of Beasley & Associates. He is a Senior Project Manager with expertise in human and health services, community planning, and organizational change and development. For the past several years he has worked internationally on large urban design and urban planning projects as well as coaching local real estate giants, Rennie Real Estate and Oakwyn.
