Julio de Paula
Julio de Paula, native of Brazil, and Professor of Chemistry at Lewis & Clark, has taught courses in physical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, environmental chemistry, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, and nanoscience. Julio served as a Program Director for the Chemistry Division of the National Science Foundation, and has received the Christian and Mary Lindback Award for Distinguished Teaching, a Henry Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Award, a STAR Award, and been named a Cottrell Scholar by the Research Corporation for Science Advancement. He has mentored 59 undergraduate students in research supported by over $3 million in single-investigator and collaborative grants and was instrumental in establishing an Overseas Program in Berlin for science majors. Our trip will kick-off in his hometown of São Paulo, and Julio looks forward to exploring the biodiversity and culture of the region with you.
