Private Journeys to Antarctica

The Seventh Continent

Scroll Down

Home > Private Journey > Antarctica
The White Continent has been explored and written about by many, but it is still a daunting task to find the words to capture how truly spectacular Antarctica is. Here, everything is big – the glaciers, the wingspans of the albatrosses, the congregations of penguins, the endless daylight of the austral summer – the list goes on. Picture whales surfacing just off from your Zodiac while penguins slide and waddle across the snow; imagine going to shore on a land being ever-crushed by a relentless layer of ice thousands of feet thick. Perhaps your life-changing memory will be watching icebergs calving and passing through narrow channels bordered by some of the highest mountains you have ever seen. With vistas like nowhere else on Earth and wildlife wholly unafraid of humans, you will be left buzzing with wonder and awe long after your expedition has concluded.

Good to Know

Average fitness suffices for our Antarctic expedition cruises. You’ll need to walk short distances on uneven, rocky terrain, climb stairs, and manage moderate activity during optional hikes, but landings are never compulsory, and crew assist with balance. Kayaking is an option, and all can participate in Zodiac cruises and lectures.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Antarctica is generally late October through March, which is the continent’s spring and summer. That’s when you’ll have the best chance to see active wildlife, longer daylight, and more favourable weather conditions.

Recommended Reading

Before an Antarctic expedition cruise, dive into the epic history of polar exploration to enrich every iceberg and inlet you see. Tales of early explorers battling sea ice, scurvy, and endless darkness—along with more recent scientific and cultural accounts—add layers of drama and context to the wild horizons around you.
