Andrés Jiménez Monge
Biologist, Conservationist
Andrés Jiménez Monge is a Costa Rican-Canadian biologist and the Executive Director of Ontario Nature. He brings more than 15 years of experience in conservation, philanthropy, environmental innovation, and community engagement, with work spanning both Costa Rica and Canada. Before joining Ontario Nature, Andrés led land stewardship innovation at Ducks Unlimited Canada in Ontario, managed a national conservation portfolio at the Weston Family Foundation, and contributed to bird conservation and public engagement through Birds Canada. He holds a Master in Environmental Studies from York University, with an emphasis in Business and Sustainability from the Schulich School of Business.
Andrés’s conservation roots run deep in Costa Rica, where he studied biology, worked in field-based conservation, and developed an enduring passion for reptiles, amphibians, birds, marine conservation, and the ways people come to care for nature. His earlier work included wildlife rescue, environmental campaigning, natural history education, and field programs involving turtle, bird, and jaguar monitoring. Warm, curious, and deeply committed to connecting people with the living world, Andrés is especially well placed to lead Ontario Nature supporters through Costa Rica’s landscapes, conservation stories, and ecological connections to Ontario.
