Literary Tour: Shakespeare and Wilde

May 01-09, 2024

9 days | England | alumni UBC Travel Club

William Shakespeare and Oscar Wilde are the focus of this exclusive literary tour to London, Stratford-upon-Avon, and Oxford accompanied by two of UBC’s distinguished and congenial study leaders, experts in the literature of these two notable authors.

This specially designed tour takes us to the literary sites associated with William Shakespeare, including his birthplace in the pretty town of Stratford-upon-Avon and locations in London. Together we’ll also explore the London of Oscar Wilde and the magical literary settings of the “city of dreaming spires.” We’ll attend three performances and enjoy special access to libraries and literary collections.

Experience Westminster Abbey (Poets’ Corner has memorials to both authors), Shakespeare’s iconic Globe Theatre, the magnificent Tudor Hampton Court Palace, the evocative ruins of the Elizabethan Kenilworth Castle, William Morris’ Kelmscott Manor, the gorgeous cloisters of Oxford’s Magdalen College, and the 600-year history of the Bodleian Library.

Enjoy pub meals, high teas, city centre hotels, and exclusive guided walks as we explore the inspiring and stimulating worlds of Shakespeare and Wilde.
