Celebrate Easter and Passover in Berlin

Easter & Passover in Berlin - with Beethoven!

2020 will mark the 250th anniversary of the birth of Beethoven, and there will be celebrations worldwide. One of the anniversary highlights happens in Berlin in April, when conductor Daniel Barenboim and his Staatskapelle Berlin present the complete nine symphonies by Beethoven over four concerts at the famous Philharmonie during the week leading up to Easter. The series will culminate with the great Symphony No. 9, “Choral” on Easter Sunday morning. What could be more thrilling and inspirational than Beethoven’s setting of the “Ode to Joy” by Schiller, and his universal and timeless message of joy and fulfillment here on earth!

“I am the conductor for life of the Staatskapelle Berlin, which fills me with tremendous joy because I feel absolutely at one with them. When we play, I have a feeling that together we manage to create one collective lung for the whole orchestra so that everybody on the stage breathes the music in the same way.”
Daniel Barenboim

Berlin is a buzzing hive of classical music, with stellar concerts every night of the week. As well as the complete Beethoven Symphonies, during our music tour we’ll also experience other wonderful concerts with some of the world’s top artists and ensembles, including a recital by pianist Sir Andras Schiff. My daily informal talks and discussion about the artists and music, guided tours of the many fascinating Berlin museums and galleries, a day trip to nearby Potsdam, and scrumptious meals will fill our days. But ample free time has been built in to allow you to explore this historical European capital on your own, or shop, revisit a museum, or just relax.

I’ve been to Berlin many times, and I am always knocked out by the amount of classical music that goes on, and the incredibly high standard.

It will be my pleasure to be your personal tour host and guide for this springtime Beethoven 250 anniversary celebration in Berlin. With music-making of this calibre, I know it will be an unforgettable Worldwide Quest music tour – the experience of a lifetime!
