Good To Know
Gorilla Permits, which cost US$800 per person, book well in advance. Also, Kibale Forest in Uganda is the best place in East Africa to observe wild chimps up close. Gorilla trekking areas sit at higher elevations—moderate fitness recommended.
Best Time To Visit
June–September and December–February for dry conditions and optimal trekking.
What To Eat
Ugandan cuisine is hearty, comforting, and rooted in the country’s fertile landscapes, where fresh produce, tropical fruits, and lush farmlands shape daily meals. At the heart of Ugandan food is matoke, a staple made from steamed green bananas.
