Best Time to Travel
The best time to visit Oman is October to April, when days are warm and evenings cool—ideal for exploring wadis, forts, and desert landscapes. Summer is very hot inland, but Dhofar’s khareef season (June–early September) brings monsoon mists, lush hills, and cooler temperatures around Salalah, offering a refreshing contrast to the rest of the country.
Cuisine
Omani cuisine is subtle, fragrant, and shaped by desert life, coastal fishing, and centuries of Indian Ocean trade. Expect spiced rice with lamb, chicken, or fish; slow-cooked stews; grilled meats; fresh dates; flatbreads; and flavours of cardamom, saffron, and rose water. Coastal areas feature grilled fish and prawns, while inland dishes are often cooked slowly over coals or in the ground for special occasions. Omani coffee, lightly infused with cardamom and served with dates, is a traditional gesture of welcome.
