Georgia & Armenia

Oct 10-23, 2022

14 days | Georgia | alumni UBC Travel Club

This tour is presented by alumni UBC. All are welcome!

Discover two of Europe’s (or Asia’s?) best kept secrets. Georgia and Armenia’s rich national stories have remained hidden for centuries and are only now opening to the enterprising traveller. Unravel layers of history, visit magnificent medieval stone churches, and take in jaw dropping views at the crossroads of continents.

Explore Tbilisi with expertly guided strolls through eclectic districts. Spend time in the atmospheric hill town of Sighnaghi to taste wine in the birthplace of viticulture. Drive along the spectacular Georgian Military Highway past granite cliffs to stay at the foot of Mt. Kazbeg in the High Caucasus Mountains. At Mtskheta see the fine Orthodox churches dating from the 4th century and at Vardzia, extraordinary examples of cave architecture and frescoes in magnificent monasteries. Travel overland to Armenia for a four-night stay in the capital Yerevan; see the extraordinary medieval monasteries, the dramatically beautiful landscape, and the sights of the exuberant city.

Enjoy fabulous meals, fusing the flavours of Turkey, Persia, and the Slavic regions, sample wines from the home of viticulture and take in performances of mesmerizing vocal polyphonic music. Unlock the treasures of the Caucasus on this eye-opening adventure!
