Central Panama

Feb 06-13, 2021

8 days | Panama | alumni UBC Travel Club

Join alumni UBC in Panama for fascinating wildlife discoveries. Here we’ll find what may be the most accessible experience of nature in the New World tropics, allowing us to enjoy a wonderful immersive experience of diverse habitats and wildlife. In particular, the tour will serve as a fantastic introduction to the birds and mammals of Central America, in addition to herptiles, butterflies, and a tremendously varied flora. We’ll visit various habitats with a focus on the Caribbean slope and a taste of the wonderful highlands.

We’ll be staying at just one lodge for the entire tour – the world-famous Canopy Tower – which offers a perfect base for exploring nature in the Canal Zone. Sir David Attenborough commented on “the lovely rooms, excellent food, and fascinating wildlife” at the lodge. More than just superb birding (and superb it is!), Canopy Lodge offers a wonderful lesson in conservation.

Your bedroom is at treetop level – you can literally watch wildlife outside your bedroom window! We’ll have the opportunity for plenty of discovery at a relaxing pace at Panama’s most spectacular locations.
