Yukon & Alaska: Land of the Midnight Sun

We have timed our trip to this magnificent wilderness region for the long days of the northern midsummer, when wildflowers begin to carpet the alpine slopes, glacier-fed turquoise lakes gleam in deep valleys and snow-covered peaks of imposing mountains loom on the horizon. We will drive to the Arctic Circle on the day of the summer solstice to witness the midnight sun skimming along the horizon. Travelling in our 25 seater mini bus across the true north, we’ll see the highest mountain in Canada and the most extensive non-polar ice fields in the world. We’ll spot moose browsing in the dense willow thickets, snow-white Dall Sheep feeding on alpine grasses and Mountain Goats climbing the steep faces of the front ranges. As we reach Tok, the gateway to Alaska, we’ll be on the lookout for Black and Grizzly Bears as they browse along the mountain slopes. This region is also an excellent waterfowl habitat for the “royalty” of local waterfowl, the Trumpeter Swan.
