Magical Himalayan Kingdoms

Limited availability!

After over 40 years of travelling the world, Lewie Gonsalves defines this as the trip of a lifetime (and that’s a pretty definitive comment). Every two years, Lewie leads this remarkable voyage across the roof of the world. We begin in Beijing and please consider arriving a few days earlier if this is your first trip to this remarkable city. From here we fly up to Lhasa and spend four days exploring its unique atmosphere. Then it’s the world’s highest railway journey as we travel from Lhasa to Xining by train through breathtaking vistas.

After a good look at those marvelous pandas in Chengdu, we’re back to the Himalayas with extended explorations in Nepal and Bhutan. We’ll visit ancient stupas and ornate temples in Kathmandu and safari by elephant back to spot tiger at Chitwan. We’ll take what we think is the most beautiful drive in the world through Bhutan’s valleys and learn about the great fortresses called dzongs and how they were built. Set against the most inspiringly scenic backdrop in the world, this tour will introduce you to the remarkable cultures that at one time flourished in the shadow of the world’s highest mountain ranges.
