Belize & Tikal

Mar 10-21, 2025

12 days | Belize | Quest Nature Tours

Belize is one of the most interesting tropical nature travel destinations. This tiny country harbours the great density and diversity of fauna and flora that one might expect in Central America, but, what’s more, its settings are enigmatic and particularly memorable.

We’ve specially designed a route to maximize our enjoyment of various points of interest here. We travel by boat up the New River to extensive wetlands with large numbers of wading and water birds such as Jabiru storks as well as Morelet’s Crocodiles. We have a chance to photograph orchids and other abundant flora along trailsides. We can watch for toucans, motmots, woodcreepers, parrots, hummingbirds, and monkeys among the ruins of Maya cities, including the fabled Tikal in nearby Guatemala. Here, the dense forest conceals more than 50 impressive structures while providing excellent habitat for such denizens as flamboyant Ocellated Turkeys. The pace of this tour is relaxed, affording you the opportunity to fully experience our oftentimes mystical surroundings.

We are joined by our Belizean naturalist with deep roots in the Maya culture who will add an extra dimension to our understanding and appreciation of this region. A post-tour extension to the beautiful South Water Caye is available.
