Megan Daniels has worked as an archaeologist for over 20 years. She has undertaken archaeological fieldwork in numerous countries, including Canada, Bermuda, Greece, Italy, Macedonia, Turkey, and Tunisia. She first visited Tunisia on a study tour in 2009, as a graduate student studying ancient North Africa at UBC. She subsequently joined a fieldwork project from 2013 to 2015 as a ceramics specialist on an excavation of the ancient city of Zita in southeastern Tunisia near the island of Djerba, a city populated by Phoenicians and later Roman settlers under the Roman Empire. Megan is currently an assistant professor in UBC's Department of Ancient Mediterranean and Near Eastern Studies. Her research interests include the religious and political interconnections and migrations of numerous peoples of the ancient Mediterranean world, including the Greeks and Phoenicians.
