New on the Blog:
A Unique and Authentic Canadian Experience at Fogo Island Inn, as told by Judi Cohen. A must read! Click here.

Start in Halifax to explore the Citadel, Canada’s most visited historic site, and Pier 21, one of CBC’s ‘Seven Wonders of Canada’. Enjoy city’s vibrant hip and historic feel; much of the city’s architectural integrity has been well-preserved, mingling with the liveliness of a town with five universities.

Then enjoy four nights at the multi-award-winning Fogo Island Inn, a traditional yet contemporary masterpiece of modern architecture and design. Fogo Island Inn sits on an island, off an island, off of one of the four corners of the Earth. Every one of the 29 one-of-a-kind guest suites has dramatic floor-to-ceiling windows that open onto the wildest and most powerful ocean on the planet. The Inn is a community asset, and 100 % of operating surpluses are reinvested into the community. Meet with one of the founders of the Shorefast Foundation on Fogo Island, practicing a new model for economic and cultural resilience that may hold learnings for small communities everywhere.

Wake up to the dramatic interplay of sea and sky, hike or cycle to explore the beautiful coastal scenery, enjoy meals featuring locally sourced produce, fish, and game, forage for wild berries and mushrooms, listen to the lilt of local music, and gaze at a million stars from the rooftop. Experience an authentic centuries-old culture.

Conclude in St. John’s, the oldest city in North America, with its jellybean-coloured houses and vibrant food and music scene.
It’s a city full of character with a contemporary edge. Meet with Memorial University Professor Sean Cadigan for a presentation on the big issues facing Newfoundland and Labrador. Enjoy a “scoff and a scuff” – a meal followed by dancing and traditional music.

Join fellow UBC alumni and friends for this exclusive trip to the edge of the earth.
