Chile and Argentina Wine Tour

Rod's winery picks for this tour include:

Casas del Bosque in Chile's Casablanca Valley, where vines are cooled by breezes from the Pacific Ocean, is one of Chile's best-known producers of cool-climate wines. We'll taste their top sauvignons and pinot noirs.

Errazuriz, in Chile's Aconcagua Valley, has built a stunning, futuristic new winery next to its nineteenth-century heritage buildings. There we'll do a blending session to see what it's like to create a wine from several varieties.

At Catena Zapata, in the Mendoza region, we'll visit one of Argentina's foremost producers of malbec, the country's signature red wine, and taste the effects of high-altitude vineyards.

There’s something very special about sipping a glass of wine while looking out over the vineyards where it was produced... Carleton University’s Rod Phillips knows all about that. Chile and Argentina are two of his favourite wine producing countries and he’s designed a tour to share what he loves most; the wonderful wines, the fabulous cuisine, and the spectacular scenery.

With Rod, you’ll enjoy insider tours of the facilities, tastings with the makers, and superb meals, including a couple of hands-on cooking classes! There’s a great variety here from traditional makers on historic estates to maverick producers creating innovative blends.

The landscapes are breathtaking from vineyards set against a backdrop of the spectacular Andes Mountains to the wild, colourful canyons of Cafayate and the exuberant architecture of vibrant Buenos Aires.

Accommodation is in lovely boutique hotels including two gorgeous wine lodges, ideal settings for Rod’s presentations, equally suited for both avid and aspiring wine lovers.

Bring an enthusiastic palate and an adventurous spirit and discover the great wines and grand sights of Chile and Argentina on this very special Carleton Alumni tour.
